The leave of absence can be irrevocable, i.e. final, or revocable. In the latter case, you must return to work if your employer revokes the leave of absence. In addition, the leave of absence can be paid or unpaid. However, a leave of absence without pay is usually only considered if you ask your employer for a leave of absence (e.g. unpaid sabbatical).
