Employment reference

With a termination agreement, you and your employer agree on the termination of the employment relationship. The contract must be concluded in writing. Otherwise it is invalid. You should urgently seek legal advice in advance. Especially if the statutory botice period is shortened by the contract, i.e. you leave the employment relationship prematurely, you are threatened with a blocking period with regard to your entitlements to Unemployment benefit. A termination agreement can also affect your health insurance cover, statutory pension insurance and company pension scheme. Please also note that you do not have to be given a cooling-off period. Although there are ways of rescinding the contract, this is often problematic. You should therefore not accept an offer from your employer without further ado, but ask for a cooling-off period and have the contract reviewed. There is often room for negotiation here.
